Security Best Practices

Most crypto losses come from user error, not hacks. Follow these practices to stay safe.

The Basics

Use a Hardware Wallet for significant amounts (>$1000)

Enable 2FA on all exchange accounts (use app, not SMS)

Separate Wallets - Use different wallets for:

- Trading/DeFi (hot wallet with limited funds)

- Long-term holdings (hardware wallet)

- Testing/airdrops (burner wallet)

Transaction Safety

Always verify addresses - Copy/paste, then check first and last 4 characters

Start small - Send a test transaction first

Check URLs - Bookmark official sites, never click links from messages

Revoke permissions - Use revoke.cash to remove old contract approvals

Red Flags

- Anyone asking for your seed phrase (NEVER SHARE)

- 'Support' DMs on Discord/Telegram

- Too-good-to-be-true returns

- Urgent pressure to act now

- Free airdrops requiring wallet connection to unknown sites

Recovery Phrase Rules

- No legitimate service will EVER ask for it

- It should ONLY be entered into your hardware wallet or when recovering a wallet you created

- If someone has it, move funds immediately

Computer Hygiene

- Use a dedicated browser for crypto

- Keep software updated

- Use a password manager

- Consider a dedicated device for large holdings
